We Grow People
Our “We Grow People” CSR policy is part of Give Steel’s sustainability strategy and is split into three areas:
- Local community
- Human Impact
- Education and Training
We Grow People is our way of expressing our goal to allow our employees to develop both as professionals and as people.
Social responsibility has been an important part of Give Steel’s profile since long before CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) was even given a name. Responsibility is an important cornerstone of our DNA. Our attitudes, actions and daily work are all a natural expression of this.
For us, this concerns focus, positive and negative choices – and ultimately positioning our vision, mission, values and strategy in relation to our social responsibility. Our goal is therefore to find the right balance between quality, environment, efficiency, a positive work environment and social responsibility.
Diversity
Give Steel accepts a role of social responsibility and therefore offers jobs and training to people from particularly vulnerable areas of society. Our aim here is to retain and integrate this group of people into the labour market.
They must be treated on an equal footing with all other employees, with respect for the care considerations that a particular individual may need. Our responsibility is to give them the opportunity to become qualified, enter the labour market or return to the labour market.
We have a policy of inclusion for all employees at Give Steel.
Respect
At Give Steel, showing respect means acknowledging and accepting that we are all different and that people may find themselves in different places in their lives. This means that we:
- attach great importance to mutual respect
- show consideration and are not judgemental
- gain respect through our professionalism and commitment
- listen before we speak and seek to understand other people as well as we can
Goals and Values
We are committed to taking responsibility for our actions and encourage positive contributions towards improvements. Our overall goal is to make a positive contribution to society as a whole while at the same time increasing the amount of value that Give Steel creates.
Our goal is to give each individual employee the best conditions, based on the employee’s needs, options, and limitations. We want to make sure that each employee makes progress towards developing professionally, personally and socially.
If we are to help our employees to be open and develop confidence in themselves and others, we need to create transparency, (self)confidence, respect and empathy. We do this by participating and seeking dialogue to encourage our employees to show responsibility, to participate, to commit and to dare to challenge themselves.
What we do
We meet all employees with the skills and potential they have. Their potential is not limited by the difficulties and challenges they may have right now. Transparency and a fixed framework therefore have an important role, but it is also important that everyone should be met with kindness, understanding and determination.
How we go about it
We structure our CSR work by assigning roles and responsibilities. It is crucial that we define authority, responsibility and the relationship. Communication, coordination and collaboration are essential factors if we are to succeed in what we do. We talk, educate, plan and adapt so that we can structure and document our work and fulfil our promise that “We Grow People”.
