Work Environment

Conduct

Tone

Give Steel A/S stresses the importance of an informal, good-humoured and sober tone. We want there to be a good atmosphere within the company and a good reputation in our local community as well as with our customers and suppliers.

As a colleague, we expect you to:

  • always be helpful and display mutual consideration
  • have a healthy and positive attitude towards diversity
  • be responsible and show respect for your own work and for the work of others
  • ensure compliance with applicable safety rules and measures for your own and others’ safety
  • contribute to the good atmosphere
  • help to maintain a “good tone”
  • inform management if there is something that is bothering you or something you are not happy with

We always give a “Good morning” greeting when we arrive in the morning, and say “Goodbye” when we go home.

Tidiness and good order

Avoid dropping used gloves and other waste. If there is rubbish lying around, pick it up and throw it in the container.

You must make sure that your workplace is tidy, both for your own safety and the safety of others. At the end of the day, the welding machine must be moved to the side, hoses and cables rolled up, and any metal waste collected and thrown out. You must clear up around your work bench.

Any special tools and other shared tools must be hung up in their proper locations.

Show consideration when there are visitors.

It is NOT allowed to take coffee cups and coffee pots into production. By order from the Danish Working Environment Authority, it is only permitted to have beverages in closed containers in the production area.

Information

The individual employee has a duty to stay informed by means of various notices on the screen or on the canteen notice board.

Meeting culture

Gauging expectations is essential. The nature of the meeting will be set out in the convening notice.

The convener is responsible for the agenda, meeting management, roles and technology (PC, projector, catering).

Unless the meeting has the character of “inspiration” or “ideas development”, the meeting should have an agenda. A meeting with no agenda can easily go in many directions and end without a decision being made.

Meetings must be focused and about what is on the agenda. Phone calls and texting are noisy and disruptive. They send a signal that the content of the meeting is not important.

We try to optimise and introduce more online meetings, e.g. via Skype (or other). This saves time, money and CO2.

Health

Hygiene

For society as a whole, poor hygiene leads to high costs for sick leave, treatment and care. We can help to reduce this ourselves.
At Give Steel, we prioritise a healthy, developmental and flexible indoor climate/environment for everyone. This means that we have goals and principles for hygiene; and thus focus on daily routines and cleaning standards, which have their own impact on well-being and illness. The higher the standard, the greater the state of well-being.

There are four good reasons for us to prioritise good hygiene:

  • Happy employees and healthy employees
  • Stops the spread of bacteria and viruses
  • Prevents illness in the company
  • Good reputation

We have a special focus on hand hygiene (washing and hand cleanser), coughing etiquette, cleaning and ventilation.

All employees with pension entitlements are covered by the health scheme at PFA.
The scheme includes interdisciplinary treatments such as physiotherapy, chiropractics and massage as well as telephone health counselling, including psychological help, substance abuse counselling and guidance on opportunities and rights in the health care system.
You can find out more about the health scheme at www.mitpfa.dk or by calling PFA at 3917 5000.

Taxation is in accordance with current legislation.

Alcohol and drugs/stimulants

The consumption of alcohol or other intoxicants during working hours is prohibited.

Any violation of this prohibition will result in your being immediately sent home without pay and may have legal consequences for your employment, such as termination of your contract or summary dismissal.

Employees and management must be aware of whether there are employees whose abuse of alcohol or other stimulants can directly or indirectly affect their performance of the work tasks.

Detoxification

An employee with substance abuse problems can receive support through the health insurance policy that Give Steel has taken out. There are various types of treatment.

Prerequisite to the initiation of any treatment of alcohol and substance abuse is that the employee has acknowledged that they have an abuse problem.

Where the employee does not wish to contribute to solving the problem or violates Give Steel’s alcohol and stimulants policy, this can lead to the implementation of measures permitted by employment law, including dismissal with or without notice.

Abuse covers alcohol, narcotics and medicines, etc.

Our alcohol and stimulants policy is based on openness, prevention and active help. It supports our endeavours to create a workplace where:

  • alcohol is used sensibly, and only ever consumed on special occasions
  • everyone works to prevent situations arising that can lead to abuse during the working day
  • everyone contributes to compliance with our policy on a daily basis
  • openness replaces misplaced loyalty

Narcotic drugs are not allowed unless prescribed by a doctor. The employee must be retained in the job as far as possible.

Give Steel offers assistance with detoxification.

Health and safety

In accordance with the Working Environment Act, we have a working environment/health and safety organisation with representatives of both the employer and employees.

A working environment group consists of a manager and one of the department’s other employees. The working environment group is your primary contact in work environment/health and safety issues. The group has undergone statutory training and is usually able to provide adequate assistance and guidance.

Further information can be obtained from Bjarne Larsen.

Workwear (Employees on hourly contracts)

Three sets of workwear are handed out after three months’ seniority (production staff). Give Steel rents the workwear from Elis, who are also responsible for its laundry and upkeep.

The three sets of workwear consist of:

• Three pairs of trousers (ordinary trousers or overalls, according to your own preference)
• Three jackets

Plus:

• Two T-shirts
• Two sweatshirts
• One pair of shoes

Each production employee also receives one (1) new T-shirt and one (1) new sweatshirt every six months.

All clothing features the company’s logo. The clothing may only be used when performing work for the company.

Safety footwear and other safety equipment are provided when needed.
Any mandatory safety equipment must be used. If the equipment is defective, you must ensure that a replacement is ordered. This can be done by contacting Bjarne Larsen.

If you want footwear other than what Give Steel is able to offer, we are willing to pay an amount regulated by the collective agreement, with any excess amount to be paid by the employee.
When leaving your employment with Give Steel, the sum of DKK 500 will be withheld for each item of clothing until your workwear is registered as having been returned. The same applies to outdoor clothing. T-shirts and sweatshirts can be considered as your own property, however.

It is not permitted to take clothing belonging to other employees. All your clothing is labelled with your name and number. If your clothing is torn, it must be handed in in the repair bags, which can be found in the changing rooms. Please contact Susanne Yde Brantlov if you have any questions about your clothing.

You will be given your toolbox when you start your employment (production staff). The toolbox contains your personal tools, which must be returned if you leave the company.
