ESG organisation post-Omnibus

Give Steel has worked with a centralised ESG organisation in 2024, whereby a cross-functional compliance group has ensured our progress towards compliance. Following the EU’s proposal to withdraw reporting requirements for companies of Give Steel’s size, we have separated reporting from strategic ESG.

The focus of strategic ESG is green competitiveness and sustainable business development, based on the ESG needs of those of our customers who are still required to submit ESG reporting. Our statutory reporting continues to be dealt with by our finance department. With our decentralised ESG structure, the head of each respective department is responsible for their own department’s sustainability initiatives. The department head is supported by our sustainability department to establish high ESG standards. This allows Give Steel to maintain an ambitious ESG course at a high level, just now with a smaller palette that makes sense for Give Steel and our customers.

The Board is the company’s supreme management organ and is responsible for the company’s triple bottom line.

The Management Group is informed about ESG initiatives and is responsible for implementing specific measures in the various departments. This ensures integration and development of ESG data within the organisation.

GROW is a non-profit initiative, established by Give Steel, that facilitates the dissemination of the Social Sustainability Calculator to organisations, networks and companies. Calculating the social bottom line is associated with the “S” in ESG.

Reporting:
The finance department holds formal responsibility for reporting, including the collection, validation and quality assurance of data. Data quality is assured as a collaborative effort between the sustainability department and the auditor.

The sustainability department ensures that our sustainability strategy makes progress and achieves results. It makes a strategic contribution to achieving a high level of ESG, while ensuring that initiatives and results are communicated correctly and transparently.
