Supply chain and geopolitical factors

Our Supplier Code of Conduct, supplier screening process and the operation of due diligence processes are how we aim to reduce negative impact in our value chains. Due diligence is how we work with risk management and responsible sourcing. We actively work with transparency and the reporting of potential social and geopolitical risks in our supply chains.

As a responsible purchaser, we seek to take advantage of our position in the value chain to make demands and be active and responsible in our actions. We seek influence and are trying to positively influence the steel industry towards a more sustainable future.

The assessment of potential risks is part of our ongoing dialogue with suppliers about risks. Like all other companies, we are on a journey towards a higher degree of documented sustainability and have prepared our first due diligence processes. The development and implementation of due diligence as a management tool for our supply chains will be implemented on an ongoing basis as needed.

Give Steel - part of something bigger

Scrutiny of our supply chain quickly reveals that we are part of something much bigger than ourselves.

The analysis of international supply chains presents a challenge with regard to transparency before the second link of the supply chain, which can make it difficult to map your entire supply chain to the last link. We do, however, believe that it is important to gain insight into where our goods come from, so that we can ensure that they are not produced at the expense of people and the environment.

The world of suppliers

Give Steel sources materials as close to our production unit as we can in order to reduce our impact on climate. It is not, however, always possible to obtain all the steel we need within Europe’s borders, as the raw materials are naturally found all over the world. We prefer to purchase from European steel works to minimise unnecessary CO2 emissions, social and geopolitical risks. The first link in our supply chain is therefore comprised of wholesalers from Denmark and steelworks in Northern Europe.

European steel works  typically source scrap steel locally. Traceability will typically become a challenge further down the value chain, however.

Please contact us if you have questions about the sourcing of raw materials for your project.

Supplier Code of Conduct

Give Steel’s Supplier Code of Conduct has been developed against the backdrop of increased sustainability requirements from the EU.
