Give Steel delivers next-generation POD solutions for data centres
The data centre industry is experiencing strong growth – and demand for scalable, modular and fast-track construction solutions continues to increase. In recent years, Give Steel has delivered structural steel packages for a number of data centre buildings across the Nordic region. Through a close and long-standing partnership with a leading data centre contractor, we have developed extensive data centre project experience and efficient, standardised processes that enable consistent quality, high delivery reliability and fast-track execution.
Data centre projects involve mission-critical infrastructure and strict security requirements. Confidentiality and information security are therefore fundamental requirements throughout project delivery.
POD: Prefabricated structurs for scalable deployment
In addition to delivering structural steel for the main data centre buildings, Give Steel has, in close collaboration with the client, developed and engineered the structural solution for a modular POD.
The POD is a self-contained unit measuring approximately 17 x 3.1 x 3.8 metres and is designed to accommodate critical technical installations. Give Steel’s scope comprises the structural steelwork and associated building envelope, designed to accommodate and protect the installations. Give Steel is responsible for the structural engineering, fabrication, delivery and erection of the POD structure. Our scope includes the structural steel frame as well as doors, sandwich panels and insulation.
The structural solution has been developed in close collaboration with the client to meet the project´s technical, dimensional and interface requirements. The steel structure and its interfaces are carefully engineered and coordinated to accommodate the client’s technical installations and ensure efficient integration within the technical systems installed within the POD.
The modular design enables the structural solution to be standardised and replicated, allowing additional POD structures to be manufactured and delivered efficiently as the data centre development expands.
Designed for manufacture, logistics and efficient on-site assembly
The partially prefabricated POD structures are developed according to DfMA (Design for Manufacture and Assembly) principles, with a strong focus on efficient fabrication, transportation and on-site assembly. The base and roof assemblies are manufactured at Give Steel´s production facility in Brande, Denmark, and are designed to be flat-packed for efficient transportation to site.
As Give Steel manages the interfaces between the structural steel, sandwich panels and doors within our scope, we ensure a high degree of constructability and interface coordination. Each component is engineered with fabrication, logistics and assembly in mind.
